Kaffihús Skerjasteinbítur [Rock Eel Café]:
World's First Systems Thinking Virtual Coffeehouse Rules & Policies

Thanks for joining the growing community who are sharing their news and views in the Rock Eel Café’s discussion forum for systems thinking topics.

Here are some rules of the road for posting messages. We want to foster an online environment where everyone can feel free to honestly and openly express their opinions and observations. If your sense of expression has a tendency to run counter to this basic tenent, this coffeehouse is not for you, until such time as you see the value in civic restraint for the common good.

Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information prior to being posted. Please remember that we can not continuously (24x7) monitor the contents of and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

The messages express the views of each author, not necessarily the views of Rock Eel Café or any entity associated with this virtual coffeehouse.

Any contributor who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

Rock Eel Café (operating the skerja.net website, and any directly owned websites, hereafter "We, Us or Our") does not endorse any messages posted by its contributors, and is not liable for any content posted herein. Advice, opinions or information provided by contributors is solely the responsibility of the contributor. You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this forum to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of another's privacy, or otherwise violates any law.

Messages shall not violate any law, statute, ordinance or regulations governing export control.

Messages posted to these message boards shall not contain, describe construction or encourage the use of viruses, Trojan horses, worms or any other harmful or deleterious programming routines. “Flaming” or consistent harassing may result in your being blocked from the service.

(The legal beagles made us repeat this) We reserve the right to delete any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless, jointly & severally, Us, InfoPop, Inc. (the makers of the bulletin board software), and any agents or assigns with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your message(s).

Messages posted to these message boards shall not violate any copyrights or trademarks as stated by law.

We reserve the right to quote or otherwise create derivative works of your “Rock Eel Café Message Board” messages for promotional and editorial use.

We also reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message posted by you.

We maintain these message boards as an industry service, and hence do not allow messages of a commercial nature. Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate in the “Coffeehouse of the Rock Eel.”

[Contact us for information on advertising opportunities. Our industry sponsor, Systems Thinking Institute LLC, until the site was retired in April 2001, lead the search engine rankings for systems thinking/non-linear thinking with top three placements in six of the top ten search engines. Their banner click-through ratio held steady around 0.88, three times the industry average, currently falling below 0.3. We draw traffic from over sixty countries without an ad campaign, because people actually want to learn what systems thinking can bring to their business and their life...what a concept!]
